Top tips to make  your wedding day perfect

Choosing that perfect shoe for your wedding day.

Here at Love Shoes we pride ourselves on experienced helpful staff, who are available to make the task of choosing your wedding shoes just that little bit easier. Whether it be heel height, colour or just some helpful hints to make your day perfect. Love shoes staff are here to help.

Remember ladies, you don’t have to spend a fortune on your wedding shoes, but to create the perfect look the shoes need to look like they are designed to be with your dress and not just there as a last thought. We always recommend leather lining in all shoes as it helps the shoe to breath and is softer and more comfortable for the long day ahead. There is nothing more annoying than having sore feet just before you dance the night away.

If you’re not used to wearing a high heel make sure you pick your shoes early so you can waltz around the house practicing walking and dancing. You may feel silly but this will help you feel more confident in your shoes and make them more comfortable on the big day. We also highly recommend wearing your shoes on while watching TV, remember to wear a pair of socks as it helps to mould the shoes to your feet.

Top points to consider;

Looking for the perfect colour can be a daunting decision for any bride. There are multiple shades and colours to choose from, for starters White, Ivory, Silver, Pewter before you even get to trims and detailing. It is always a great idea to bring a piece of material with you on your visit to make sure you avoid the last minute frustrations of whether Ivory or Champagne are the best match for your dress. A lovely idea for some brides is to choose a shoe design that has diamante or lace trims to match the detailing on their dress.

Jewellery is a really important part of your accessories and there are several beautiful design collections we can recommend, all excellent quality and they won’t break your bridal budget!

For an elegant, timeless classical look we always suggest pearls, they will never go out of fashion, and are the prefect compliment for that vintage look.

Too heel or not to heel?

Another big decision for any bride is heel height, you may need to ask yourself “Am I getting married in the gardens or on the beach”, “ Are there cobbles”  “Will I need to walk far between venues”.

Some popular choices for that casual beach wedding are wedges or ballet flats, but if you love heels we can recommend a product on the market called  "Shoe stoppers" and they just slide on the bottom of the heel to stop you sinking into the manicured lawn. (Website link Another very popular idea for those brides that love to wear heels, but can’t last for the whole day, is a second pair of smaller heels or bridal flats, for those moments when you just need to be able to get from A to B.

Venue suggestions and tips

Victoria has some stunning regions in which to have your ceremony - The Yarra valley and Mornington peninsula are favourites among our brides to be. With hundreds of great venues, stunning scenery and an amazing selection of local food and wine. Enough choice that even the fussiest bridal/groom can have their perfect day.

Wineries are a popular venue for weddings and I was recently fortunate enough to be invited to a wedding at the Yarra Ranges Winery in Monbulk. The ceremony took place outside so the bridal party all had shoe stoppers for the ceremony and it worked perfectly to help stop then sinking into the lawn. An unforgettable day was had by all at this beautiful venue. Great food, great wine and great company. Yarra Ranges can cater for all budgets and dreams, if you are looking for a more relaxed casual wedding or you can make it as formal as you require. When the sun is shining and the grapes are growing the romance can’t help but flow.  We would like to say a massive thank you to the bride and groom for allowing us to share this magical day.

Most Winery venues are prepared for all seasons, the change of colour in the autumn, or the mist over the vines in winter can be a beautiful setting for any photographer to capture that special moment.
